Cook Out

We found a new park within the last month that has quickly become one of our favorites.  If only we would have found this place sooner. It is just a couple miles from our house yet it feels like you are far away from civilization and you are surrounded by trees.  There is a fun little park and pavilions where you can barbeque.  We headed up there this weekend and had a little cook out.  Kyia now asks us everyday if we can go back up there to cook out.  We'll have to get back up there before we leave in a week.

Miss Independent!

Kyia is one of the most independent little girls I have ever met. She has to do everything on her own. The other day Mike went to the store to look for sunglasses and right when they got in the store, she headed over to the employee and said "excuse me, do you have any kid's sunglasses?" She also has to order her own meal if we go out to eat. Mom and Dad can't do it. We went bowling with friends a couple days ago.  It was the first time Kyia went bowling and actually understood what to do and what it was about.  She would not let us help her position the ball or carry it up to the lane.  She "could do it herself" as I was told repeatedly.  So we let her do it all on her own and she ended up bowling a 108 without any help. She beat everyone!  Mike and I ended up tying with 83.  We're horrible bowlers but had fun.  I guess she doesn't need help after all.  She should be telling me how to do it.

Slacking!

Mike has informed me that I am doing a horrible job at keeping our blog up to date and that I need to get going on it.  We have been very busy packing and so the blog has not been a top priority.  We have one week left here in Tennessee and we're really going to miss it.  It's been a great 3 years. The problem I have with waiting so long between posts is that I forget all that has happened.  I'll try to sum up everything we've been up to.

Brooklyn recently turned 8 months:

and has been doing a lot of this:

She is growing way too fast! She loves to stand up and is pulling herself up onto everything! She has had 3 ear infections within the past month.  They just won't go away but she has been a trooper and hopefully this round of antibiotics will cure it.

Kyia loves to treat her like she's a doll:
Luckily Brooklyn is a good sport and you can pretty much do whatever you want to her. It is so fun to watch these two together!

HAPPY EASTER!
We had a fun Easter and enjoyed having friends over for Easter dinner and spending time with them.  Kyia was excited to tell us the Resurrection story and did a really good job at it.  Brooklyn also got up into a sitting position for the first time yesterday.  On Saturday, Mike surprised us with a trip on the Easter Bunny Express.  It is similar to the Polar Express except the Easter Bunny comes to visit.  We took the 2 hour train ride and stopped in Watertown, TN.  A small Tennessee town where they had an Easter egg hunt for the little kids.  It was a really fun surprise and the girls loved it.  We had a really good weekend!

On the Move

Brooklyn has figured out the army crawl.  Within the past couple days, she has gotten pretty good at it and is getting faster.  She is still trying to pull her legs up under her but can't quite get it yet so we'll stick to the army crawl for a little bit. I better start baby proofing! This week has been a tough one for her.  She's decided she wants to get all her teeth in at once and is now working on #5 and #6 which are almost through.  Poor girl has had fevers and a cold all week on top of the teething.  Hopefully after these come through she will take a break on the teething for a little bit.  One month, 6 new teeth, time for a break!

*Sorry it is so dark, I'll try to get a better one up soon.
