Estes Park

A couple weeks ago we took a little day trip up to Estes Park. I love mountain towns and lucky for Mike, it was their Elk fest. We saw tons of elk while we were up there. Being the hunter that he is, Mike was in heaven but was wishing he could have done more than watch. We spotted one heard that was right next to the road that had about 20-25 cows. It was during the rut so it was exciting to hear them bugling and watch the bull elk herd the cows. Also in the area, was another big elk that you can tell had lost the battle. He had horn marks in his fur and the leader elk wasn't bothered by his presence. As we drove around, we saw several more big herds of elk. It was a really fun trip and we are glad we were able to go up before we move to the flat lands.

Amazing pictures. I must admit, it is kind of funny to see Mike in a picture surrounded by pink! What a good husband and dad he must be after growing up with all of those sisters!!
