Saturday was a beautiful, sunny day. It was also pretty windy so we decided it was a good kite flying day. Kyia had never flown a kite before so we thought she might enjoy it. We ran to Target to pick up a kite and then headed off to the park. It was a little colder and windyer than we expected but decided to try and fly the kite anyway. Mike didn't even have to run to get the kite in the air. He then handed the string to Kyia who wasn't strong enough to hold it by herself in the wind. The kite started to pull her to the point she was running. Mike thought she was running because she was having fun but before he realized the kite was pulling her, the kite flew out of her hands and into a tree. It took a little while for us to get the kite out of the tree and it was time to try it again. Things were going well until Kyia was holding the string again, let go and it flew back into a tree. This time it took a little longer and ripped the kite a little but we thought we would keep trying. Again, the wind was a little strong and caught the kite and it flew out of Mike's hands. He went running after it and caught it before it went back into the tree. He got a workout that day. Next time we will go on a day that's not so windy and with a few less trees.
