Happy 4th of July!

We hope everyone had a fun 4th of July weekend.  We are down in Houston and found out that Houston has one of the biggest land based fire works shows in the country so we thought we would check it out. We are staying in an apartment about 2 miles from downtown, right where the fireworks were so we decided to walk it instead of dealing with parking and the traffic afterwards. Kyia visited the ice cream man on the way down for the first time.  We didn't really pay attention to what she picked.  With the heat and humidity, it melted so much faster than she could eat which turned out to be pretty messy. It ended up staining her mouth brown for the night. She also dropped it in her lap which stained both of her legs as well.  We were worn out by the time we got home with the heat and everything but it was much better than driving and we could both use the exercise.   The show went on for about 30 minutes and fireworks were going off in two places.  Having not seen these before, we weren't sure where to sit to get the best view.  There seemed to be a lot of people there for the first time because as we asked where the best place to be was, no one knew.  We ended up picking the perfect place, right in between the two shows.  We caught a video of part of the finale we thought we would share.  This is one side of the two.  Kyia wasn't too sure about the loud noise.  She was so excited for them at first but as soon as they went off, she plugged her ears the entire time and said they were "scary and loud".  Maybe next year she will enjoy them a bit more.
