Last night we had and late night ER visit. I heard Kyia scream while I was in the other room and came out to see her sitting on the couch holding her arm. I asked her what happened but she wasn't talking so I tried to look at it and every time it would move, she screamed bloody murder. I didn't really see anything out of the ordinary, didn't see or hear her fall, and Kyia is known to be overly dramatic so I let her sit on the couch for a couple minutes to see if it started to feel better. It didn't and she was really protective of her arm and wasn't moving it at all so I decided it was time to make a trip to the ER. Usually when Kyia gets hurt, she is over it pretty quick but this was different. Every bump in the car hurt. We picked up Mike from his football game and headed over to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. The Doctor's had to move her arm around and push on it to see if it was broken and Kyia wasn't like that much. At one point she told the doctors "I don't like doctor's" which made everyone laugh. They took x-rays and said her arm wasn't broken but she was more squeamish and protective of her arm then normal so the orthopedic surgeon had to come look at her x-rays because not everything was lining up like it should. We got to the hospital at 9:00 p.m. and at this point it is 12:00 a.m. Who knew it would take so long? The Dr. finally came in and said she had "nursemaids elbow" or a dislocated elbow. It usually happens when someone pulls on their arm but is rare to see with falling of the couch (which Kyia finally told me she did). Not having seen Kyia fall, I'm not sure exactly what happened. They had to bend her arm to put it back into place. Kyia did really well and 10 minutes after they put her arm back in place, she was up bouncing of the walls wanting to play. It's amazing that something so small can make her feel so much better. After Kyia was better, she kept saying "Doctors are magic, they fixed my arm". We finally got home at 2:30 a.m. And Kyia is doing so much better today.

What an exciting night for you guys! I'm glad it wasn't broken, now you will have to keep telling her doctor's are magic so she will keep liking them!
